China¡¯s Textile and Apparel Exports Rebounded by 20% in March

According to the latest data released by China’s General Administration of Customs on April 13th, China's textile and apparel exports in March stopped declining and rebounded, exceeding February and the same period last year, thanks to factors such as the continuity of China's stabilizing foreign trade policy, the optimization of Covid prevention and control policies, and enterprises’ resumption of work and production after the Spring Festival, etc. In US dollar terms, textile and apparel exports in March reached 26.39 billion U.S. dollars, a jump of 82% compared to the previous month, and an increase of 20% from a year earlier. January-March textile and apparel exports were 67.23 billion U.S. dollars, down 6.8% from a year earlier, with the rate of decline narrowing from the previous month.

Textile and apparel exports in RMB: From January to March 2023, textile and apparel exports totaled 462.3 billion yuan, up 0.71% over the same period last year (same below). Textile exports reached 220.45 billion yuan, down 5.1%, and apparel exports totaled 241.85 billion yuan, up 6.7%.

In March, textile and apparel exports reached 180.01 billion yuan, up 28.9%. Textile exports reached 88.03 billion yuan, an increase of 17.5%, and apparel exports hit 91.98 billion yuan, an increase of 42%.

Textile and apparel exports in USD: From January to March 2023, textile and apparel exports accumulated US$67.23 billion, down 6.8%. Textile exports reached US$32.07 billion, down 12.1%, and apparel exports hit US$35.16 billion, down 1.3%.

In March, textile and apparel exports reached US$26.39 billion, up by 20%. Textile exports hit US$12.905 billion, up 9.5%, and apparel exports reached US$13.485 billion, up 32.3%.
